Our Process
For many of our customers, when they come to us to work on a landscaping project, it will be their first time going through this process. Quite often they will feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and stressed from trying to learn and know more about the project they want to pursue than they can reasonably be expected to know, because they don't want to come across as uninformed when talking to us about their idea. P&K Lawn Care doesn't want our customers to ever have to feel that kind of stress or pressure. We won't try to trick you with things you don't know, we find great joy in explaining or showing you how we will accomplish what you envision for your yard. It isn't the job of our customer to know how landscaping projects get completed, that's our job!

P&K Lawn Care's Landscaping Process
Choosing a Landscaper is an important first step in any major landscaping project. Whichever company you choose needs to be one you are able to trust, because your expectations for that company will rightfully be high. You are going to expect them to be professional, to have integrity and to have the expertise required to do the job you are hiring them to do! P&K Lawn Care have all of that, and we look forward to proving it to you and to go beyond those basic expectations to offer friendly service, and transparency through every step of your project so that you always know what is happening with your property. It is never our goal to come onto your project and push and bully you into doing things our way. We want your project to be done in a way that you are comfortable with, that achieves your end goal, and that is fulfilled in as efficient a manner as possible.

Step 1: Consultation
The first step in any landscaping project is the consultation. Come prepared to share your vision and goals for the project with us. It’s important that we fully understand what you want to achieve and how you want it to look. Feel free to bring along magazine clippings, Pinterest boards, or anything else that will help you communicate your ideas clearly. Remember, we’re designing and building this space for you, but we can’t know exactly what you have in mind unless you tell us! Our goal is to gain insight into your vision so that we can provide feedback on the practical aspects of bringing it to life. We'll discuss the design, functionality, and budget of your project while offering advice from our years of experience completing similar projects.
The on-site consultation typically lasts about an hour with one of our experienced landscape team members. This is your chance to ask any questions you have, get a sense of how we work, and understand how we can turn your vision into reality. You can also get information on topics like permits and pricing. While we’ll do our best to address all your questions during the meeting, if there are any details we need to check back on, we’ll be sure to provide answers at our next meeting.
During the consultation, we’ll also discuss your project budget. Our goal is to fully understand the scope, needs, wants, and budget of the project so that we can prepare an accurate estimate. If you have site plans, bringing those along will help us provide a more precise estimate.
After the consultation, you’ll receive a return bid that includes an itemized pricing breakdown for the design elements, structural features, and plant life we discussed.
Step 2: Return Bid
The next step in the process with P&K Lawn Care is discussing the return bid. This bid is a flexible document that can be adjusted at any time based on your evolving wants and needs, as well as changes in material costs or other factors.
The purpose of the return bid—and the discussion we’ll have around it—is to share the vision we’ve developed based on our understanding of your goals from the initial consultation. It’s your opportunity to confirm we’re on the same page, or to let us know if we’ve missed the mark somewhere! While the bid is not final, we’ll have selected materials that we believe will work best for your space, allowing us to give you a more accurate estimate.
During this part of the process, we’ll walk you through each line item in the bid, explaining the rationale behind each choice, the associated costs, and addressing any questions, concerns, or alternative ideas you may have after reviewing it.
Step 3: Project Design
After our return bid meeting, once you’ve decided that you’re confident in our plans and trust us to bring your vision to life, we’ll meet one final time to sign a design contract with one of our designers.
Once the contract is signed, we’ll take all the details from our discussions, the return bid, and the insights from the initial walkthrough to begin crafting a concrete design for your landscaping project. On average, this phase can take 6-8 weeks. During this time, our design team will be busy working on plans and visuals to ensure our landscaping teams can execute your vision. Our designer will consider everything we’ve discussed—whether it’s grass, shrubs, trees, pools, fire features, hardscaping, structures, or any other elements—to bring your dream landscape to life.
Step 4: Finalize Project Design
Once our designer has completed the design, we’ll reach out to schedule a meeting to present the final landscaping plan. This plan will incorporate all the specific requests discussed throughout the process and will include detailed information and specifications for each element. During this meeting, we’ll also go over the final budget and outline the next steps in the process.
Step 5: Begin Construction
Your dream landscape has been transformed into a clear vision our team can execute, and the documents are now finalized. It’s time to move forward with scheduling and construction! Typically, this step involves one final meeting between you, our designer, and the project manager. During this meeting, we’ll address any remaining questions and establish a suitable timeline for your project.
